SO-LE STUDIO FLAGSHIP STORE

In December 2022, SO-LE STUDIO opened its first boutique in Milan, on Via Sant’Andrea 10, as part of Portrait Milano. Portrait Milano’s new destination: Piazza del Quadrilatero.

The flagship store was designed by FONDAMENTA, a Milan-based architectural practice founded by Francesca Beatrice Gagliardi e Federico Rossi. The brief from Maria Sole Ferragamo was to design an experiential space embodying the guiding principles of SO-LE STUDIO: lightness, mobility, playfulness, and a love for organic and architectural shapes.

SO-LE STUDIO’s wearable sculptures are versatile pieces created from similar specific principles that those of architecture such as deformation, traction, illusion, and sustainability.

 

 

FONDAMENTA created a new living space by wrapping the old building with a new soft skin, made of a delicate fabric placed under tension over a wooden skeleton and spreading into every direction. The physical space is losing every corner and becomes an organic and flexible system of new surfaces cut at certain points to reveal the jewels, appearing like precious pearls in a shell. The wooden skeleton store structure was realized by the carpentry division of COMETA. It is a centre of excellence for the recovery of early school leaving and the work placement of children living in difficult social, economic conditions.

It’s a place where master craftsmen transmit the value of work to young people, combining techniques and secrets of the oldest traditional crafts with cutting-edge machineries, creating products of high-quality value in the process.
